Man, and it's gotten even worse since I've been editing. Because I keep seeing stories that come in that are like, "Yes! You have a firm grasp on prose, and your characters seem like cool people, but... no, something does actually need to happen, I'm sorry." And then I look at my own life, and look at my own choices, and go "ARRGH."
