Words I will never, never be able to type right on the first try:

• sheriff (I really want there to be two "r"s!)
• bizarre (I want there to be two "z"s!)
• traveling (Two "l"s!)
• traveler (I think both "traveler" and "traveller" are technically correct somewhere, and I can never remember which it is I'm supposed to be using. But I tend to use a bastard mashup of BrE and AmerE spellings anyway, because "sabre" and "theatre" just look better, while "manoeuvre" is a crime against language and good sense.)
• jewelry (I usually try for "jewelery" or "jewlery", and sometimes I convince myself that there are either two "l"s or only one "e", somehow.)
• ambiguity (I always feel like there's an "e" involved, for some reason.)
• terrific (I want there to be to "f"s.)

Lesson:

• I will, with no ambiguity, never make it in this world as a bizarre but terrific traveling jewelry sheriff.

I am with you on sheriff. I can never remember whether R or F is doubled or both or neither. I also have the BrE/AmerE spelling issues, especially since I grew up in Canada which mostly uses BrE spellings (with some exceptions) and then had to unlearn that in my 30s when I moved to the US.

I think part of my issue with both "sheriff" and "bizarre" is that I want the more word-central consonants to be doubled, and they aren't.

I was born and raised in America, and I have no idea where my preferences for some British spellings comes from. I might have gotten "sabre" from Redwall, but "theatre", I have no idea. But I will metaphorically die on this hill.

...oddly enough, I tend to swap back and forth on "centre" / "center". I'm sure there's something which determines when I use which, but, •shrugs•.
